A graduate of the University of Montreal and Norwich University with a degree in Psychotherapy and Counseling, she practiced psychotherapy for 15 years, while teaching seminars to psychologists and clinical social workers. Ewa’s business and administrative experience includes five years managing Dr. Hammer’s medical practice and 15 years as Coordinator of Dragon Rises Seminars.
In 2001, she partnered with Dr. Hammer and two others in the founding of Dragon Rises College of Oriental Medicine, with curriculum based on the entirety of his work; the only provider of Contemporary Oriental Medicine (COM) teachings in the world. From 2001 to 2008, she served as Director and CEO of Dragon Rises College in Gainesville, Florida. She was a member of the Governing Board for the College until her retirement in 2008.
In late 2013, using a generous gift from a supporter of Dr. Hammer’s work, she formed and served as President of The Contemporary Oriental Medicine Foundation (now the Dr. Hammer Legacy Foundation), a non-profit with the mission to preserve, promote and protect the art and science of the Shen-Hammer Tradition of Chinese Medicine. In early 2014, the Foundation acquired the for-profit College, turning it also into a nonprofit organization. It is still the owner of the College, and appoints members of its Governing Board. Ewa Hammer is no longer on the Legacy Board but serves again on the College Governing Board
